Overview

College of the Sequoias, also known as COS, is a public, two-year, community college located in Visalia in Tulare County, California, United States. It was originally established in 1926 as Visalia Junior College as a department in the city high school. The college enrolls more than 12,000 students and offers a wide variety of transfer, vocational, and community-based classes. COS was named after the Giant Sequoia trees, which are native to the nearby Sierra Nevada mountain range.

COS offers classes on several campuses located in Exeter, Corcoran, Dinuba, Farmersville, Hanford, Ivanhoe, Lemoore, Lindsay, Orosi, Porterville, Strathmore, Three Rivers, Tulare, and Woodlake. Some notable alumni of COS are Steve Perry, American singer and songwriter; and DeeAndre Hulett, American basketball player.

Their official mascot is the Giants. COS’s athletic teams participate in various sports including football, soccer, volleyball, softball, and baseball.
