Overview
Concordia College-Selma, CCS, is a private institute of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod's Concordia University System, situated in Selma, Alabama. Initially named Alabama Lutheran Academy and Junior College, the name was changed to Concordia College on July 1, 1981. CCS offers Associate of Arts Degrees, Bachelors of Science in Business Administration, and Bachelors of Science in Education. The academic unit of CCS is comprised of the following five divisions:
- Business and Computer Information Systems
- Education
- General Education (Math, Physical and Natural Sciences, P.E, Humanities and Fine Art)
- Hornets Academy
- Social Studies, Social/Behavioral Sciences, and Theology
The sports teams of Concordia College-Selma are nicknamed the Hornets and participate in baseball, softball, basketball, football, soccer, and track & field. CCS offers scholarships on the basis of active participation in extramural events and performance in academic work. Some of the scholarships include the Academic & Honors Scholarship, the Baseball Scholarship, the Football Scholarship, and the Music Scholarship.
