Overview
Cornell University was established on April 27, 1865, as a coeducational, non-sectarian institution by Ezra Cornell and Andrew Dickson White. It was inaugurated on October 7, 1868, and enrolled 412 students. The campus encompasses more than 700 acres in Ithaca, New York, and includes around 260 buildings. The university also offers medical campuses in New York City and Qatar. Cornell University is organized into several academic units including:

Cornell University has officially recognized more than 35 fraternities and approximately 10 sororities which are governed by the Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council, and Multicultural Greek Letter Council. Some of the fraternities and sororities are Beta Theta Pi, Delta Sigma Theta, Theta Delta Chi, Kappa Alpha Society, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Sigma Gamma Rho, and Kappa Phi Lambda.
