Cornish College of the Arts was established in 1914 as the Cornish College by Nellie Cornish, a pianist and voice teacher. It was highly influenced by the pedagogical ideas on music teaching of Maria Montessori and Calvin Brainerd Cady. It is a private, nonprofit, four-year College of performing and visual arts offering bachelor’s degrees in music, fine arts, dance, design, theater, and performance production. It also offers the students with diverse classes on eurhythmics, French language, and painting.
The college has a number of active clubs and groups such as comic club, Frisbee Club, Cornish Vegan Society, Cornish Summer Theater Ensemble, and Life Painting consortium. Cornish college also has a student’s group, Cornish Student Leadership Council and an international student’s council.
