Overview

Crowder College was founded on the grounds of Fort Crowder in 1963. It is a two-year, community college that serves the Junior College District of McDonald and Newton counties and other distant areas. Crowder College grants certificates, diplomas, and associate degrees. It also offers adult education programs. The college was named in honor of General Enoch Crowder, an outstanding Missourian, soldier, and statesman.

Crowder College has achieved global recognition for its pioneering alternative energy program. An interesting part of Crowder College is The Longwell Museum which is housed in the Elsie Plaster Community Center. It has many exhibits and artifacts from the college’s Fort Crowder days when more than 50,000 soldiers were stationed there.
