Overview
Brooklyn College was founded by the New York City Board of Higher Education in 1930. At that time, it was the Downtown Brooklyn branches of the City College of New York and Hunter College. It was the first public, coeducational college in New York City. Presently, the college is part of the City University of New York (CUNY) system. The campus is spread over 25 acres in Brooklyn, New York. Brooklyn College offers a number of degree programs and is organized into the following academic divisions:

- Division of Graduate Studies
- School of General Studies
There are several student organizations and clubs in Brooklyn College. Some of these are the Academic Club Association, Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity, Americans for Informed Democracy, Black Family Organization, Brooklyn College Anime and Manga Corps, and Pan-African Student Alliance.
