Overview

The City College of The City University of New York was established in 1847 as the Free Academy of the City of New York. It was founded by Townsend Harris, president of the Board of Education. It was renamed to College of the City of New York in 1866 and City College of New York in 1929. The college adopted its current name in 1961. It is also known as City College of New York, City College, or CCNY and is a flagship campus of the City University of New York (CUNY) system. The following are the academic division of CCNY:
