Overview
The John Jay College of Criminal Justice, also referred to as John Jay or simply JJC, is a coeducational, public college located in New York City, New York, United States. It was established in 1964 and named after John Jay, first chief justice of the United States Supreme Court and one of the founding fathers of the United States of America. Jay was a native of New York City and Governor of the state of New York.
The student body at John Jay College is cosmopolitan in nature. It consists of Caucasians, African-Americans, Hispanics, Asians, and native Americans. Approximately 100 different nationalities have representatives in the student body of JJC.
The athletic teams are called the JJC Bloodhounds. The official mascot is a bloodhound. JJC sponsors soccer, volleyball, tennis, cross-country, basketball, swimming, baseball, softball, tennis, and rifle shooting.
Notable alumni of JJC include Kimberly Amato, actress and writer; Eva Norvind, actress and director; and Dorothy Uhnak, writer.
