Overview
Curtis Institute of Music is a private conservatory located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The institute was established by Mary Louise Curtis Bok in the year 1924. The school is named in the honor of Mrs. Bok’s father Cyrus Curtis. The institute offers Bachelor of Music degree or a diploma. Vocal students can also pursue Professional Studies Certificate or a Master of Music degree.
The Student Council of Curtis Institute of Music plays a dynamic role in enhancing the quality of the student life. The institute has a diverse student body with representatives from more than 15 foreign countries. The students are granted full-tuition scholarships by the institute on the basis of merit. Some famous graduates of Curtis are Jonathan Biss, an American pianist; Matthew Rose, a bass vocalist; Ned Rorem, an American composer; and John Mack, an American Oboist.
