Founded in 1961, DeKalb Technical College, is also known as DTU. It was earlier known as DeKalb Technical Institute. After several name and status changes, it was given its present name in 2000. DTU records an enrollment of over 17,000 students per year and operates several campuses and centers located in Clarkston, Covington, Lithonia, Doraville and Conyers. The college offers a wide variety of study options through certificates, diplomas, and associate’s degree.
DTU has a strong student administration that works toward comprehensive student development. The student government promotes several activities. DTU is home to a number of clubs, organizations, and honor societies such as the American Criminal Justice Association, the DeKalb Technical College Chess Club, and the National Technical Honor Society.
