Delta State University

Delta State University, also known as DSU, is one of eight publicly funded universities in Mississippi. This regional university is spread over 332 acres in the Cleveland area. It was originally established in 1924 as Delta State Teachers College. In 1974, the college changed its name to Delta State University. DSU offers a wide variety of degrees and programs in diverse areas of study. The university is organized into the following academic division:

  • School of Nursing

DSU enrolls more than 4,000 students annually in its undergraduate degree programs. The university has an active Greek life. There are several fraternities and sororities on campus that are governed by the Interfraternity Council, Pan-Hellenic Council, and Panhellenic Council.

Housing and Meals

Delta State provides on-campus housing for 1,574 of its 3,436 (full-time) students (as of 2007). The school requires freshmen to live on campus.

Delta State Athletics

School sports include football, basketball, baseball, and track. Delta State is in the Gulf South Conference for major sports.

Delta State offers financial aid for athletes. Of students receiving athletic financial aid, 180 male students received the aid (men were 67% of those receiving aid) and 88 women were awarded financial aid based on athletics (representing 33% of students receiving such aid) .
