Dickinson State University

Dickson State University, also referred to as DSU, is located in Dickinson, North Dakota, United States. It was established in the year 1916 and was formerly known as Dickinson State College. It gained university status in 1987. Students are offered degree programs in various areas of study including business and management, natural sciences, nursing, and teacher education. The two degree-granting colleges under the university are:

  • College of Arts and Sciences
  • College of Education, Business, and Applied Sciences

There are many clubs and organizations available on campus for the benefit of the students. These include Sigma Beta Delta, Business Club, Student Senate, Young Democrats, and Pi Kappa Delta. DSU students also publish an on-campus newspaper known as "The Western Concept."

Housing and Meals

Dickinson State provides on-campus housing for 656 of its 2,138 (full-time) students (as of 2007). The school requires freshmen to live on campus.

Students may purchase a meal plan which includes 19 meals weekly.

Dickinson State Athletics

School sports include football, basketball, baseball, and track. Dickinson State is in the Dakota Athletic Conference for major sports.

Dickinson State offers financial aid for athletes. Of students receiving athletic financial aid, 22 male students received the aid (men were 65% of those receiving aid) and 12 women were awarded financial aid based on athletics (representing 35% of students receiving such aid) .
