Dixie State College Of Utah

Dixie State College of Utah, also known as DSC, is a college located in St. George, Utah, United States. The institution was founded by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on September 19, 1911, as St. George Stake Academy. After a few name changes, it was finally renamed Dixie State College of Utah in 2000. The college enrolls more than 7,000 students.

DSC offers bachelor degrees in diverse areas of study. It also offers associate degrees in several fields of study. Certifications are also available in medical radiography, nursing, automotive mechanics, and dental hygiene.

The College is a member of the NJCAA. The athletic department fields a variety of sports for both men and women. Some notable alumni of the college are Jeffery R. Holland, apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; Rick Baird, member of the U.S. Bobsled team; and Scott Young, NFL OL Philadelphia Eagles.

Athletics

School sports include football (Great Northwest Athletic Conference), basketball (Pacific West Conference), baseball (Pacific West Conference), and track (Pacific West Conference).

The school offers financial aid for athletes. Of students receiving athletic financial aid, 145 male students received the aid (men were 68% of those receiving aid) and 67 women were awarded financial aid based on athletics (representing 32% of students receiving such aid) .
