Eastern Virginia Medical School, created in 1973 and referred to as EVMS sits upon 500 acres in Norfolk, Virginia. The campus also includes the Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and the Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters. EVMS is a part of the Eastern Virginia Medical Center. It offers a wide variety of medical programs in diverse areas of study such as the biomedical sciences, clinical embryology and andrology, surgical assistant, and ophthalmic technology.
There are many student clubs and organizations at EVMS. These include the American Medical Student Association, Christian Medical Association, Anesthesiology Interest Club, Dermatology Club, Ethics Club, Geriatrics Club, Internal Medicine Club, and Family Medicine Interest Group.
The students of EVMS can avail several scholarship programs, which include the L.D. Britt, M.D., Endowed Scholarship, Alexander Graham Bell College Scholarship, American Art Therapy Association Anniversary Scholarship, and American Medical Association Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Scholarship.
