Overview

Edison State College, also known as ESC, ECC, and Edison, was established in 1962 as Edison Junior College. Later on, the college was renamed to Edison Community College and then Edison College. In 2008, it became a state college and adopted its current name. It was named after Thomas Edison, the inventor and industrialist. The college is administrated by the Florida Community Colleges System. Lee Country campus is the main campus and covers more than 130 acres in Fort Myers, Florida. In addition, ESC has campuses in Charlotte and Collier counties.

ESC offers a number of degrees and certificate programs. Some of the academic departments of the college are business administration and management, computer programming and analysis, paralegal studies, and emergency medical services technology. The college also offers many scholarship programs including the Edison State College Foundation Scholarships and other institutional scholarships.

There are a wide variety of student organizations at ESC. Some of these are the African-American Student Association, Criminal Justice Club, Edison Film Society, International Club, and Phi Beta Lambda.
