Overview

Erie Community College, or ECC, was established on April 4, 1946, as the New York State Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences at Buffalo. The college was renamed to Erie County Technical Institute on September 1, 1953. ECC adopted its current name in 1969 and is part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system. In addition to its Buffalo campus, ECC has campuses in Williamsville and Orchard Park. ECC has 80 associate degree and certificate programs. The academic units of the college are organized into the following departments:

  • Health Sciences Division
  • Liberal Arts Division

Some of the student organizations of ECC are the Anthropology Club, Black Student Union of ECC, Film and Theatre Club, International Business Club, Paralegal Association, Phi Theta Kappa, and Nursing Club.
