Fairmont State University

Fairmont State University, established in 1865, is located in Fairmont, West Virginia. It was founded as West Virginia Normal School, and was nicknamed Fairmont State Normal School in 1867. The university given the name Fairmont State College in 1943. Today the school serves more than 7,000 students.

FSU’s campus covers nearly 120 acres. The university has a branch campus located in Clarksburg, the Gaston Caperton Center. FSU offers masters degrees, baccalaureate degrees and associate degrees in diverse areas of study.

Students may purchase a meal plan which includes 19 meals weekly.

Fairmont State Athletics

School sports include football, basketball, baseball, and track. Fairmont State is in the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for major sports.

Fairmont State offers financial aid for athletes. Of students receiving athletic financial aid, 138 male students received the aid (men were 66% of those receiving aid) and 70 women were awarded financial aid based on athletics (representing 34% of students receiving such aid) .
