Finlandia University

Finlandia University is a private, degree-granting, co-educational institute located in Hancock, Michigan, United States. It was established in 1896 as Suomi College. Finlandia is the only university in North America, founded by Finnish immigrants. The university grants bachelor’s degrees in diverse areas of study. Finlandia University is organized into the following academic divisions:

  • College of Health Sciences
  • International School of Art & Design
  • International School of Business
  • Suomi College of Arts and Sciences

Finlandia University’s athletics department sponsors several men’s and women’s sports teams. They participate in sports including basketball, cross country running, ice hockey, soccer, softball, and volleyball. The university is a part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III, Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA), and Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association (MCHA).
