Fort Lewis College

Fort Lewis College is located in Durango, Colorado and was established in 1911. The school takes its name from a 19th century military post located on the land and that later became the first campus. This college is a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges. Fort Lewis College enrolls more than 4,000 students annually. The students of this college are offered majors, minors and certificate programs in study areas which include Accounting, Art, Environmental Studies, Mountain Studies and Theatre.

One of the defining characteristics of Fort Lewis College is its Native American Tuition Waiver and and Tribal Scholarships. Through this program Fort Lewis will admit qualified Native American students with no charge for tuition. There are various student clubs and organizations at the college including A.I.G.A Graphic Design Club, the Black Student Union, the Anthropology Club, Beta Alpha Psi and the Business Club. The students also organize and run a community radio station called KDUR-FM and participate in the sports available on campus like basketball, baseball and soccer.

The school mascot is Skyler the Skyhawk. Varsity sports include basketball, cross-country, football, golf, soccer, softball, and volleyball. Fort Lewis is in NCAA Division II.

Housing and Meals

Fort Lewis provides on-campus housing for 1,391 of its 3,717 (full-time) students (as of 2008-2009). The school requires freshmen to live on campus.

Students may purchase a meal plan which includes 19 meals weekly.

Athletics

School sports include football, basketball, baseball, and track. The school is in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference for major sports.
