Fort Valley State University

Fort Valley State University, also known as FVSU, was established in 1895. Located in Fort Valley, Georgia, The Fort Valley State College was formed by the merger between the State Teachers and Agricultural College of Forsyth and Fort Valley High and Industrial School. The college became Fort Valley State University in June of 1996. The campus is located on 1,365 acres and the university offers education in agriculture, graduate studies, arts and science.

The sports teams of the university are nicknamed the Wildcats and participate in basketball, football, softball, tennis, cross country, and track and field. The students also have access to the Criminal Justice Club, the Social Work Club, the FVSU Christian Fellowhsip Society, the Creative Writing Club, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

Housing and Meals

Fort Valley State provides on-campus housing for 1,500 of its 2,456 (full-time) students (as of 2008-2009).

Students may purchase a meal plan which includes 19 meals weekly.

Athletics

School sports include football, basketball, baseball, and track. The school is in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference for major sports.
