Overview

Francis Marion University, also nicknamed as FMU, was founded in 1970. It is a public university and is situated outside Florence, South Carolina. It was originally created as Francis Bacon College and received university status and its current name in 1992. The university campus is more than 400 acres and FMU records an enrollment of over 4,000 studnets annualy, admitting students from more than 20 states and 15 countries. FMU Grants undergraduate degrees to the students in several fields of study. The university is comprised of following schools and colleges:

  • School of Education

The University is home to a diverse selection of clubs and organizations. FMU has an active Greek life. It possesses a number of fraternity and sorority chapters such as Alpha Tau Omega, Kappa Alpha Order, and Omega Psi Phi.
