Overview
Franklin and Marshall College, also known as F&M, is located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, United States. It was established on June 6, 1787, and named after Benjamin Franklin, who donated £200 to the college. It was founded by the ministers of the German Lutheran Church and Reformed Church. The first classes were held on July 16, 1787, with 78 men and 36 women. It is the first coeducational institution of America. The college covers approximately 170 acres in Lancaster.
Some of the Greek Letter Organizations of F&M are Chi Phi, Zeta Chapter, Phi Kappa Sigma, Zeta Chapter, Phi Kappa Psi, PA Eta Chapter, Phi Sigma Kappa, Pi Chapter, Delta Sigma Phi, Upsilon Chapter, Lambda Chi Alpha, Alpha Theta Chapter, Sigma Pi, Nu Chapter, Phi Kappa Tau, Xi Chapter, Kappa Sigma, and Delta Rho Chapter. The fraternities include Alpha Phi, Zeta Sigma Chapter, Chi Omega, Phi Lambda Chapter, Kappa Delta, and Eta Lambda Chapter.
The sports teams of F&M are nicknamed the Diplomats. They participate in baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer, squash, swimming, tennis, indoor track and field, outdoor track and field, and wrestling.
