Overview

Genesee Community College was established in 1966 as a part of the State University of New York system. The first classes were held on September 27, 1967. The main campus of the college is located in the Town of Batavia, New York. In addition, the college has branch campuses in Medina, Arcade, Warsaw, Lakeville, Albion and Dansville, New York. As of the Fall of 2007, GCC had more than 3,000 full-time students.

GCC offers more than 50 academic programs and is organized into various departments, including business and commerce, computers and technology, human services, math and science, creative arts and the law and criminal justice.

There are several student clubs at GCC. These include the African American Student Union, the Film Club, the Art Club, the Computer Club, the EARTH Club, the Criminal Justice Club, the GCC Christian Fellowship, Dactylology Club, Game Club, Mathematics Club, Phi Theta Kappa, Outdoor Adventure Club, among others.
