Georgia College & State University is a public, co-educational university located in Milledgeville, Georgia. It was established in 1889 as a women's college known as Georgia Normal & Industrial College. The college was later renamed as Georgia State College for Women. In 1967, it was renamed again after it became co-educational, this time as Georgia College. The college was given its current name in 1996.

The university's sports teams are known as the Bobcats. GCSU fields men's tennis, golf, cross country, basketball and baseball teams, while it sponsors women's teams in cross country, golf, basketball, soccer and softball.
