Overview

Glendale Community College, also referred to as GCC, is a two-year, public, community college located in Glendale, California, United States. It was established in 1927 as Glendale Junior College (GJC). In 1944 the name was changed to Glendale College. Finally, on July 1, 1970, it received its present moniker. The College stretches across approximately 100 acres of suburban land.

The College's athletic teams are called the Vaqueros. GCC sponsors basketball, soccer, track and field, tennis, softball, baseball, volleyball, football, and golf.

Notable alumni of Glendale Community College include Frank Wykoff, three-time Olympic gold medalist in 4 x 100 m relay race; Danielle Panabaker, actress; and Leland Hartwell, scientist, Nobel Laureate for Medicine in 2001.
