Goddard College is a private, co-educational college located in Plainfield, Vermont, United States. The college grants bachelor’s and master’s degrees in diverse areas of study. Goddard College was established in 1863 as Green Mountain Central Institute. The founder of Goddard College is Royce Stanley, a progressive educator and follower of John Dewey. The campus is spread across an area of 175 acres.
Goddard’s student body represents students from many countries outside United States. The college also hosts a community radio station, which serves central Vermont and is known as WGDR, 91.1 FM. Many students of Goddard College have gone on to become famous. Some of the notable alumni include Mumia Abu-Jamal, journalist and political activist; Alan Dater, Documentary filmmaker; and Robert M. Fisher, abstract artist.
