Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute Of Religion

Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion New York is a Jewish Seminary located in New York, New York. Apart from the New York center, the college also operates campuses in Cincinnati, Jerusalem and Los Angeles. HUC was established under the guidance of Rabbi Isaac Mayer Wise in Cincinnati, Ohio in the year 1875. JIR was founded in 1922. The merger of HUC – JIR took place in 1950. The college offers several graduate programs in the study of Judaism, rabbinical education, ministry and sacred music. Doctorate degrees are also available. HUC – JIR in New York consists of the following academic schools:

  • School of Sacred Music - New York
  • The New York Kollel
  • The Rabbinical School
