Overview
Holy Names University, commonly referred to as HNU, is situated in Oakland, California. It was founded in 1868 as the Convent of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. It became a university in 2004. The campus of HNU is spread over more than 60 wooded acres of land. Students are offered degrees and certificates in various fields of study including business management, biological science, sports management, education, nursing and pastoral counseling.
A large number of student clubs and organizations are supported by Holy Names University, including the Drama Club, Construction Club, Model United Nations Club, Viva La Justica, Face Aids, The Islanders Club and Latinos Unidos.
