Overview

Holyoke Community College was established in 1946 as Holyoke Junior College. It was founded by Dr. George Frost. The college is located on an area of more than 160 acres in Holyoke, Massachusetts. It is adjacent to the Massachusetts Turnpike and Interstate 91. At present, HCC offers more than 70 associate degrees and around 41 certificate programs.

HCC has more than 50 student clubs and organizations, which include the Black Student Alliance, Business Association, Future Music Educators, Criminal Justice Association, Photography Club, Students for Social Justice, Wildlife Society, Muslim Students, International Students Club and the Japanese Anime Club.

The athletics department of HCC fields a number of men’s and women’s sports teams, which participate in the National Jr. College Athletic Association and the Massachusetts Community College Athletic Conference. They are nicknamed the Cougars.
