Hood Theological Seminary, originally established as the Zion Wesley Institute in 1879, was renamed Livingstone College in 1887, and a theological department was created under this college in 1903. This department was gradually established as a school and then a seminary which came to be known as the Hood Theological Seminary, in 1906, in honor of Bishop Hood. The institute is located in Salisbury, North Carolina.
Hood Theological Seminary offers master’s and doctorate degrees as well as diploma programs. Students can choose from courses in the fields of theology and ethics, history of Christianity, religion and society, pastoral theology, and biblical studies.
Hood Theological Seminary supports student organizations such as the Student Government Association. The institute offers financial assistance to deserving students through various Federal grants, loans, and scholarships.
