Hope College is a private, residential, liberal arts college located in downtown Holland, Michigan, United States. It was originally founded as the Pioneer School in 1851. The college received its state charter in 1862. The main campus spreads across an area of over 90 acres. The college offers more than 80 majors leading to a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Music, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Hope College enrolls more than 3,000 students every year.
The U.S. News & World Report's 2009 edition included Hope College among the 33 institutions noted for their outstanding undergraduate research programs. Hope College has an active Greek life. More than 10% of the students belong to the social fraternities and sororities on campus.
