Houston Baptist University

Houston Baptist University, also known as HBU, is located in Houston, Texas, United States. It was established in 1960 by the action of the Baptist General Convention of Texas.

The college campus covers an area of nearly 100 acres of land. HBU offers graduate and undergraduate programs in the following colleges:

HBU has several clubs and organizations. Some of them are the governing organizations, honor organizations, professional organizations, and service and social service organizations.

HBU has an active Greek life. A few of the Greek Organizations are Sigma Phi Lambda, Phi Kappa Psi, and Kappa Alpha Order.

Housing and Meals

Houston Baptist provides on-campus housing for 920 of its 2,183 (full-time) students (as of 2008-2009).

Students may purchase a meal plan which includes 19 meals weekly.

Athletics

The school is in the Division I Independents for major sports.

The school offers financial aid for athletes. Of students receiving athletic financial aid, 30 male students received the aid (men were 49% of those receiving aid) and 31 women were awarded financial aid based on athletics (representing 51% of students receiving such aid) .
