Overview

Humboldt State University is the northernmost campus of the California State University system. It was founded on June 16, 1913 by the then-California Governor Hiram Johnson. HSU is located in Arcata within Humboldt County, California. The university offers more than 45 undergraduate majors and over 80 minors. It is organized into the following academic units:

  • College of Arts, Humanities, & Social Sciences
  • College of Natural Resources & Sciences
  • College of Professional Studies

Humboldt State has an active Greek system. It includes the national fraternity Chi Phi and the national sorority Delta Phi Epsilon. The campus is home to several student clubs and organizations as well. Its sports teams are nicknamed the Lumberjacks.

Athletics

School sports include football (Great Northwest Athletic Conference), basketball (California Collegiate Athletic Association), baseball (), and track (California Collegiate Athletic Association).
