Huston-Tillotson University

Huston-Tillotson University is a historically black university located in Austin, Texas, United States. It was established in 1881 by merger of Samuel Huston College and Tillotson College. It came to be known by its current name from February 28, 2005 and is commonly abbreviated as HT. The Huston-Tillotson University offers programs in various fields ranging from arts and sciences to business. The programs offered by the university include humanities, fine arts, natural sciences, mathematics, social and behavioral sciences, and business administration. The university has the following two academic divisions:

  • College of Arts and Sciences
  • School of Business and Technology

HT has an active Greek life consisting of fraternity and sororities such as Alpha Phi Alpha, Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Omega Psi Phi, Phi Beta Sigma and Sigma Gamma Rho. There are other student organizations such as Student Government Association, Ht Preservation Club. HT has athletic teams nicknamed as the Rowdy Rams.
