Idaho State University

Idaho State University, also known as ISU, is a public university located in Idaho, United States. The main campus is situated in Pocatello. This Carnegie-classified doctoral research institution was founded in 1901. ISU offers various degrees and certificates in more than 280 programs of study. The university is organized into the following academic divisions:

Idaho State University fields various men’s and women’s sports teams. They are nicknamed the Bengals. They compete in the NCAA Division I (I-AA for football) Big Sky Conference. ISU has won various championships including the NCAA Division I-AA national championship in football (1981), and the NCAA national championships in boxing (1953 and 1957).

Housing and Meals

Idaho State provides on-campus housing for 1,279 of its 8,465 (full-time) students (as of 2008-2009).

Athletics

School sports include football, basketball, baseball, and track. The school is in the Big Sky Conference for major sports.

The school offers financial aid for athletes. Of students receiving athletic financial aid, 128 male students received the aid (men were 53% of those receiving aid) and 112 women were awarded financial aid based on athletics (representing 47% of students receiving such aid) .
