Overview

Illinois College of Optometry, ICO, is a private optometry college in Chicago, Illinois that was founded by Dr. Henry Olin in 1872. The college campus is comprised of over 366,000 square feet of space including a library, an electronically enhanced lecture center, recreational & living facilities, and computerized clinical learning equipment. ICO offers Doctor of Optometry (O. D.) and Bachelor of Science in Visual Science (BSVS) degrees to students. Courses include optics, visual perception, ocular anatomy and physiology, sensory aspects of vision, as well as immunology, human anatomy, and pharmacology.

Illinois College of Optometry has over 20 clubs and organizations including the National Optometric Student Association, the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists, the Private Practice Club, the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society, and the ICO Leo Club.

ICO has the Carl F. Shepard Library which contains a collection of periodicals, books, MP3s, CD-ROMs, DVD’s, and other types of media related to ocular and general health, and visual sciences.
