Overview
Illinois State University, also referred to as ISU, was established in 1857 by Jesse W. Fell, an Illinois based businessman. Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States, drew up the legal documents for establishing the university. Originally, ISU was named as Illinois State Normal University. It changed its name to Illinois State University at Normal in 1964 and adopted its present name in 1968. The academic divisions of ISU are as follows:

The Greek community of ISU was established in 1967. Presently, around 13% of the students actively participate in Greek life. Some of the on-campus Greek Organizations are Alpha Epsilon Pi, Delta Tau Delta, Zeta Phi Beta, Tau Beta Sigma, Pi Kappa Alpha, Delta Delta Delta, Lambda Chi Alpha, and Alpha Gamma Rho.
