Indiana University, also referred to as IU East, is located in East Richmond, Indiana, United States. It was established on July 1, 1971. The first classes were held in 1972 with 633 students. Alexander Schilt became the university's first chancellor. It is beautifully nestled in an area of more than 170 acres in Richmond. Whitewater Hall was the first of four campus buildings, and it was completed in 1976. The university offers more than 50 degree programs. IU East is divided into the following academic schools:

IU East has more than 30 on-campus student organizations such as the Criminal Justice Club, Humanities Club, Psychology Club, IU East Student Education Association, Student Government Association, Chi Alpha Epsilon, Psi Chi, Environmental Club, Alpha Phi Sigma, and World Languages and Cultures Club.
