Overview
Indiana University of Pennsylvania, or IUP, is a public university located in the borough of Indiana, Pennsylvania, United States. It was originally established as Indiana Normal School in 1875 by the Indiana County investors. The institution achieved university status and became Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1965. It is the largest university in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PaSSHE).
IUP’s main campus is a mix of old and new red brick structures. The campus covers 350 acres. It boasts a planetarium, University Museum, and a black box theater. IUP offers more than 100 undergraduate degree programs and over 40 graduate degree programs through the following academic divisions:
