Indiana University Of Pennsylvania

Indiana University of Pennsylvania, or IUP, is a public university located in the borough of Indiana, Pennsylvania, United States. It was originally established as Indiana Normal School in 1875 by the Indiana County investors. The institution achieved university status and became Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1965. It is the largest university in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PaSSHE).

IUP’s main campus is a mix of old and new red brick structures. The campus covers 350 acres. It boasts a planetarium, University Museum, and a black box theater. IUP offers more than 100 undergraduate degree programs and over 40 graduate degree programs through the following academic divisions:

Housing and Meals

IUP provides on-campus housing for 3,800 of its 12,546 (full-time) students (as of 2007). The school requires freshmen to live on campus.

IUP Athletics

School sports include football, basketball, baseball, and track. IUP is in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference for major sports.

IUP offers financial aid for athletes. Of students receiving athletic financial aid, 92 male students received the aid (men were 47% of those receiving aid) and 105 women were awarded financial aid based on athletics (representing 53% of students receiving such aid) .
