Overview

Ithaca College was established in 1892 as the Ithaca Conservatory of Music. It was established by William Egbert and became a private college in 1931. The college is famous for its communications program. Its campus is spread across an area of more than 750 acres on the South Hill of Ithaca, New York. In addition to the Ithaca campus, IC has various satellite campuses. It is organized into the following academic divisions:

  • Division of Graduate Studies
  • Division of Interdisciplinary and International Studies
  • Roy H. Park School of Communications
  • School of Business
  • School of Health Sciences & Human Performance
  • School of Humanities & Sciences
  • School of Music

IC has various national and independent fraternities and sororities. However, IC's administration removed most of the Greek letter organizations from campus in the 1980s due to many vastly publicized hazing incidents. The remaining Greek organizations include Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Mu Phi Epsilon and Sigma Alpha Iota.
