Overview

Jarvis Christian College at Hawkins, Texas was established in 1912 by Thomas Buchanan Frost. It is a historically black, four-year college. Commonly abbreviated as JCC, the college offers its students with programs leading to bachelor’s and certificate degrees. The college offers courses in areas such as music, sociology, history, business, education, and biology. JCC is organized into the following academic divisions:

  • Division of Arts and Sciences
  • Division of Business Administration
  • Division of Education

JCC has an active Greek life consisting of honor societies such as Sigma Tau Delta, Delta Mu Delta, Beta Kappa Chi, and Alpha Kappa Mu. The college also has other student’s organizations such as Social Sciences Club, English Club and the Sociology and Criminal Justice Club. JCC also has an active Student Government Association. Athletes of JCC take part in events such as volleyball, golf, and basketball. The athletics teams are nicknamed as the Bulldogs.
