Overview

Jefferson College of Health Sciences is a private, independent, coeducational college located in Roanoke, Virginia. It was chartered in 1982, making it Virginia's oldest hospital-based college. Dr. Hugh Trout Sr. established the school as the Jefferson Hospital School of Nursing. The college adopted its current name in 2003.

Jefferson College offers over 10 majors in a variety of healthcare areas leading to Associate, Bachelor and Master of Science degrees. The programs are offered through four departments, Community Health Sciences, Nursing, Arts and Sciences, and Rehabilitation and Wellness.

Jefferson College of Health Sciences sponsors athletics teams in tennis, volleyball, basketball and softball. The college is also home to clubs and organizations like the Student Nurses Association, Hands of Healing, the American Medical Student Association, and the Triathlon Club.
