Johnson C Smith University

Johnson C. Smith University, also known as the JCSU, was established in 1867, and is a liberal arts university located in Charlotte, North Carolina. The campus JCSU comprises 40 buildings spread across an area of 100 acres. It was initially named as Biddle Memorial Institute and operated under this name till 1923. The university provides bachelor’s degrees in more than 25 majors. JCSU is divided into the following academic colleges:

  • The College of Arts and Letters
  • College of Professional Studies
  • College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Technology
  • Honors College

Johnson C. Smith University has an active student life with several on-campus clubs and organizations. A few of them are Muslin Student Association, Communication Arts Club, Criminal Justice Association, and Music Business and Technology Club among others. The university maintains an active Greek life through fraternities and sororities including Alpha Phi Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Omega Psi Phi, and Zeta Phi Beta.
