Joliet Junior College

Joliet Junior College, or JJC, is a comprehensive community college located in Joliet, Illinois, United States. It was the first public community college founded in the United States. JCC was established in 1901. The college offers pre-baccalaureate programs for students planning to transfer to a four-year university. It also offers adult education and literacy programs, workforce development services, and student support services.

As of 2008, the college enrolled more than 14,000 students. The college offers academic courses in the following campuses and centers:

  • Weitendorf Agricultural Education Center

Some of the notable alumni of JCC are Dr. John C. Houbolt, NASA scientist; John Williams, WGN Radio host; and George Sangmeister, retired Illinois Congressman.
