Kean University is a state university located in Union Township, Union County, New Jersey, United States. It was founded in 1855 as the Newark Normal School. Kean was granted university status on September 26, 1997. The university is named after the Kean family and Robert Winthrop Kean, who served New Jersey in the United States House of Representatives from 1939 to 1959.
Kean University offers more than 45 undergraduate and over 25 graduate degree programs in diverse areas of study. It is organized into the following academic divisions:
