Overview

Established in 1858, Kentucky Wesleyan College (KWC) is located in Kentucky’s third largest city, Owensboro. It is a private Methodist college and is known for its programs in liberal arts. Spread across an area of 55 acres, the college was founded by Methodist Episcopal Church’s Kentucky Conference. KWC's recent enrollments have been over 900 students. KWC offers various courses of study in its three main academic divisions including:

  • Humanities and Fine Arts
  • Natural Sciences
  • Social Sciences

KWC has an active Greek life and houses five national Greek organizations. The sororities include Sigma Kappa and Kappa Delta and the fraternities are Sigma Nu, Sigma Alpha Mu and Sigma Phi Epsilon. The college has an impressive athletic history and the students participate in various sports activities such as football, golf, tennis, softball, volleyball, basketball and baseball. Besides, it also publishes a yearbook, the Porphyrian and a weekly student newspaper called the Panogram.

Kentucky Wesleyan provides on-campus housing for 520 of its 850 (full-time) students (as of 2009-2010).

Athletics

School sports include football (Other), basketball (Great Lakes Valley Conference), baseball (Great Lakes Valley Conference), and track (Great Lakes Valley Conference).
