Lake Michigan College, also known as LMC, was established in 1946. It is situated near Berrien County, Michigan. Until 1963, LMC operated as Benton Harbor Junior College. LMC enrolls more than 7,000 credit and non-credit students annually. Its main campus is in Benton Township, Michigan with several regional campuses in Benton Harbor, South Haven and Bertrand Crossing (Niles). It is a two-year community college that offers associate’s degrees and certificates in diverse areas of study.
LMC has an active student life and the student government promotes several events and activities. It is home to a number of clubs and organizations including the Fine Arts Club, the LMC Gamers Guild, the Martial Arts Club, and Phi Theta Kappa. The athletics department of LMC participates in a wide variety of sports and their sports teams are known as the Indians.
