Overview

LeMoyne-Owen College, LOC, is a private, historically black institute in Memphis, Tennessee. LOC was formed through the merger of Owen College and LeMoyne College in 1968. It offers Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, and the Bachelor of Business Administration degrees in diverse study areas. The undergraduate program at LOC is offered through 5 academic divisions:

  • The Division of Fine Arts and Humanities
  • The Division of Natural and Mathematical Sciences
  • The Division of Social and Behavioral Sciences

LeMoyne-Owen College has a number of Social Greek Organizations, Honor Societies, Performing Arts groups, and Academic and Professional Organizations. Some of them are the Business Students Association, the Mathematics and Computer Science Club, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Debut Kashmir Modeling Society, and the Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Society. The sports teams are known as Magicians and they participate in the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
