Overview

Lewis & Clark College, also known as L & C, is an independent, private college of liberal arts situated in Portland, Oregon, United States. It was established in 1867. L&C was originally founded as the Albany Collegiate Institute. After a few name and status changes, it finally became Lewis & Clark College in 1942. The campus is spread across 137 acres of land in Portland's southwest hills. L & C has under it the following schools and colleges:

  • College of Arts and Sciences
  • Graduate School of Education and Counseling
  • School of Law

The College of Arts and Sciences offers enrollment to more than 1,000 students. The Graduate School of Education and Counseling and the School of Law each enroll over 500 students every year.

L & C has a prominent athletic department. The sports teams are known as the Pioneers, and they participate in baseball, basketball, softball, cross country, football, swimming, tennis, track & field, volleyball, rowing, soccer, and golf.
