Lon Morris College, located in Jacksonville, Texas, was established in 1854 as the New Danville Masonic Female Academy. The college is the oldest existing two-year college in Texas. It went through a number of name changes before being given its current name in 1924.
LMC offers associate’s degree programs in areas such as visual arts, music, business, communications, philosophy, computer science and pre-med. The college is comprised of the following academic divisions:
- Division of Fine Arts
- Division of Humanities
- Dvision of Sciences
LMC has an active Greek life, offering chapters of Phi Theta Kappa and Sigma Delta Phi. Students can also participate in a number of other clubs and organizations, including the Art Club, the International Club, the Biology Club and The Chamber. Students also publish a yearbook called Alexandra.
